Melkite (Melchite) Catholic Church
- Melkite (Melchite) Catholic Church
This term (derived from the Syriac melk, meaning "king") stems from the fact that in the fifth century, the Melkite Church was loyal to the emperor. After separation from the Western Church in the eleventh century, the Melkite Catholic and Roman Catholic Churches resumed full communion in the eighteenth century.
